CAGLAN18 (November 16-17, 2002) Rundown
"Junk You Probably Didn't Even Know Happened at the LAN."
Who Attended (29+)
sk8boardin_fool (Again, missed 90% of the LAN)
El Pollo Diablo (coolest new nick in the room)
yogensha (gets moved to the bottom for missing CAG17)
About 1/2 a dozen people who stopped by for a few minutes.
Many people who were just checking us out but didn't play.
Total # Computers
I counted 30 computers at one point, but I think we peeked a couple more than that.
CAGLAN Landmarks Reached
Our 100th CAGLANner was officially counted at CAG18. There's about a dozen people that we haven't managed to catch from past CAGLANs, but we have over 100 now.
The Tik won our 1x1 UT2003 instagib tournament over Nasty Nate. Congrats to The Tik, and thanks to everyone who participated in the tournament. The Tik won our final Pentium4 motherboard donated by cluboverclocker.com. A short video of the final minute of the tourney can be found here (6.7MB) (QuickTime, of course).
Most Played Game
Battlefield 1942 probably wins this one again, but I know a bunch of UT2003 was played as well.
Best Strategy of the LAN
There was the whole 'Stand in front of the lightning gun to help line up your rail shot' strategy strangely wins this category. I don't know why, but for some reason this just wins.
Useless Stat of the LAN
We'll post some info on the DNS requests at our LAN sometime when we get around to it.
Useless Stat of the LAN part 2
Here's some nifty graphs of the internet usage from the LAN. You can see how much more of a load we put on Inet's network than there usually is. It's kinda cool to look at. :-)
Here you see our usage and the drop off when we shut down around 2am.
Here's the comparison on a weekly basis.
Of course, on a monthly basis.
